The legislative session is off and running in Olympia. The 2018 session is a short one but may prove to be eventful.

State Wide Sick Leave ... Are you Ready?
Attorney Jason L. Bergevin has been selected as the Ambassador of the Month for the Greater Seattle Business Association ( GSBA ).
This will be Jason Bergevin's second time presenting for the Sterling Education Seminar. This year he will be a faculty member presenting at the 4th Annual Construction Law: From Design to Delivery. The seminar will be held in Seattle, WA on April 28, 2017. Jason will be speaking on contracts and employment law considerations in the construction context.
In May 2016, the Department of Labor (“DOL”) issued its revised overtime rule, which increased the overtime salary limit from $23,660 to $47,476. The final rule can be found here. The rule is specific to employees who are considered exempt under the executive, administrative and professional exemptions. The new rule will become effective December 1, 2016.
Attorney Jason L. Bergevin has been selected to serve on the Continuing Legal Education Committee for the Washington State Bar Association until 2019.
We previously wrote about House Bills 2406 and 2931, which would significantly change the use of non-compete agreements in Washington. At the end of the session, both bills went to the House “X” file, which made it likely that neither would be passed this session. At the beginning of the Special Session both bills were reintroduced. However, the House adjourned the special session without taking further action.
Jason L. Bergevin has been elected to serve as 1st-VP of the ARCADE Board of Trustees., a Seattle-based design publication whose mission is to reinforce the principle that thoughtful design at every scale of human endeavor improves our quality of life.
Jason Bergevin will be a faculty member presenting at the Sterling Education Services, Inc., Construction Law: Designs, Delays, Disputes, and Delivery. The seminar will be held in Seattle, WA on April 29, 2016. Jason will be speaking on the various project delivery systems, the bidding process, and bid protests and environmental considerations.
